Zig Zag Cowl

This ripple design is finished off with three pretty buttons, perfect for a little more bling.
I used a skein of Red Heart Soft in Teal with an I hook.
Ch 37
Row 1:Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next 4 chs, *sk 2 chs, dc in each of next 4 chs, 3 dc in next ch, dc in each of next 4 chs* repeat to last ch, 2 dc in last ch, ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Dc in 1st st, *dc in each of next 4 sts, sk 2 sts, dc in each of next 4 sts, 3 dc in next st* repeat to last 11 sts, dc in each of next 4 sts,  sk 2 sts, dc in each of next 4 sts, 2 dc in last st, ch 3, turn.
Repeat row 2 until desired length. Fasten off, weave in ends, and sew on the buttons. The holes in the ripple pattern made perfect button holes, so don't worry about extra shaping.

All finished! My finished cowl is about 11" x 40".

Xoxo, Alyssa

  1. Alyssa,
What is the stitch rep on this? Please? 4??? I'd like to make this for my niece who is very petite (she says little), she's 4-10 & 30yrs old. So, I don't think it needs to be 40" long. Thanx.

    1. Since this scarf is worked horizontally, you can just do fewer rows to make it shorter.
